CarbIP Life Project Newsletter – Issue 4 July 2024

Welcome to the fourth edition of the CarbIP Life Project Newsletter!

We are delighted to share some exciting news and updates with you. Our team has made considerable progress in our research and development efforts, and we are thrilled to present the latest results.

Upscaled production capacity of 700 L/day aerogel-fiber material and 300L/day aerogel-EPS blow-in material

Our Demo plant has undergone further significant changes to accommodate the upscaling of our demo production lines. By maximizing the efficiency of our reactor and other unit operations, we managed to significantly reduce the production time and thus obtain much more output. This enhancement is crucial for advancing our production capabilities and ensuring consistent quality.

Steerco meeting

We had the pleasure of meeting with our Steerco to discuss the progress and preliminary results of the CarbIP EU LIFE project. This meeting provided us with valuable insights into addressing the challenges in our process.

Additionally, we had a productive meeting with the European project coordinator. We are pleased to report that we have successfully achieved all our milestones and deliverables for the mid-term report. This accomplishment reflects our team’s dedication and hard work

Next Steps

Our upcoming focus areas include:

  • Small-scale recycling tests with a blow-in partner to evaluate the reusability and recyclability of blow-in insulation materials.
  • Insulated Double Wall (IDW) prototypes collaborate with subcontractors to test the new IDW prototypes, assessing their thermal, acoustic, and fire performance with Aerogel-impregnated insulation materials.
  • Digital tool: explore the architecture of the digital software required to evaluate various characteristics (price, LCA, thermal conductivity, etc.) of the elements based on different combinations.
  • LCA/EPD investigation to be performed on the environmental properties of the Aerogel impregnated and combined materials.
  • Designing and modeling the next aerogel incorporated blow-in material production line.

We are committed to pushing the boundaries of innovation and sustainability in insulation technology. Thank you for your continued support and interest in our project. Stay tuned for more updates in our next newsletter!

Best regards,
