CarbIP Life Project Newsletter – Issue 6 October 2025
Innovation thrives on momentum, and this update provides an opportunity to reflect on our progress, evaluate key achievements, and identify areas for continued focus. In the sections that follow, you’ll find detailed insights into recent activities, outcomes, and next steps. These updates are intended to support transparency, foster collaboration, and ensure we remain focused on delivering impact.
One of the most energizing moments in the project so far was the event organized by the team behind CARBIP project. On 9 September 2025, more than 150 leading voices from across the European construction ecosystem gathered at the Evoluon in Eindhoven for Precast Transformed, Future of Smart Construction. The event was filled with energy, urgency and inspiration. The program was packed with inspirational talks from keynotes, panel discussions and conversations. The collaboration and conversations during the presentations and networking sessions set a powerful tone for what’s possible when we align around shared goals.
Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) and non-verified Environmental Product Declaration (EPD have been calculated for IDW panel without insulation, SWP panel with PIR and PUR as reference, aerogel, different insulation fibers with and without aerogel : glass wool, rockwool, cellulose, paper fiber, EPS, and combinations of IDW with different insulation fibers with and without aerogel. Achieved CO2 savings are 25-50 % compared to conventional solutions, and are dependent on chosen materials.
- Continuation of experiments and trials with diverse types of blow-in insulation materials and amounts of aerogel
- Technical performance tests like (hydro)thermal, acoustical, and fire characteristics are being defined and discussed with potential testing partners
Next Steps
- Evaluate the recycling performance of the IDW protoptypes.
- Display events, to highlight the capabilities of the new insulation materials in our prefabricated walls.
- Analysis of investment, commercial and technical aspects of industrial level production.
- Demo Building Construction: We will select a partners to assist us in constructing a demo building containing the IDW prototypes with composite aerogel-based insulation materials.
Thank you for your continued support and showcasing interest for our project. Stay tuned for updates in the upcoming months!
