VLAIO Living Lab Circulair Beton
The Clusterevent Circulair Beton, organized by VLAIO Living Lab Circulair Beton, took place on December 3rd at Buildwise in Zaventem. The event aimed to share knowledge and facilitate networking among the sector’s stakeholders, focusing on circular developments in the prefab sector and the implementation of innovative solutions in practice.
Event Description: The event provided a platform for exchanging knowledge and experiences, with the goal of scaling up the use of circular concrete in Flanders. Participants gained insights into the latest developments and concrete applications within the sector, contributing to a successful transition to a circular construction and concrete sector.
Why we participated: we participated in this event to share our progress with the CARBIP EU LIFE project, gain new insights, and make valuable connections within the sector. It was a unique opportunity to learn from other experts and contribute to the collective efforts towards a more sustainable future.
Program Highlights:
- Morning:Circular strategies for and with prefab concrete, with presentations on refurbished tiles, modular construction, and temporary concrete paving.
- Afternoon:Scaling up circular concrete on both the demand and supply sides, with case studies and parallel sessions on circular concrete mixes and support for clients and designers.
- Your Presentation:In the afternoon, you gave a presentation on the CARBIP EU LIFE project, highlighting the industrial application of new, sustainably produced, and circular insulation materials within the construction sector. This was a significant contribution to the knowledge exchange and inspiration of the participants.
- Closing:Building the circular future together – a digital ecosystem, followed by a networking reception.
Participants: The event attracted a wide range of participants, including contractors, material producers, clients, architects, engineering firms, and educational institutions. This diverse group of professionals brought a wealth of knowledge and experience, contributing to rich discussions and valuable networking opportunities. The interaction among these various actors was crucial for building a strong ecosystem around innovative and sustainable concrete.
What we learned: The sessions were very inspiring and offered in-depth knowledge on circular strategies and innovative solutions. The network we built will certainly contribute to future collaborations and projects.
